The "Quiet" Along The Border

As a visitor to this spot(Pilot Knob LTVA)dry camping, for a few days each year,I have noticed a big difference this year over even last year about the same time,as noted by the pic above of a Border Patrol chopper landing at the base of the Knob to chase down a supposed illegal who was climbing down from the top,as Algodones Mexico is just on the other side.
The person was confronted and sent back. Now that happened last February. This year all is quiet around here,no Border Patrol vehicles racing down the dusty road every hour,no chopper hovering over your trailer with the spotlight on at 3a.m.
The only reason I can figure for the change is the fact that the big border fence wall has been constructed through here now. When I look west to the big Algodones sand dunes,I can see what looks like sections of the wall through the dips in the sand, but it is about 8 miles away.I'm going to see if we can get a pic of it in the next few days.

In the pic below is another of our visitors of a couple of weeks ago,a Phainopepla that graced us with his presents.A treat because it is usually difficult to get close to these guys.
